Retired Teachers

As a certificate holder who is retired from public education, you ARE responsible for professional development for each semester that you were employed in the public schools during your current cycle.

Certificate Renewal:

• If you are currently exempt but have professional development requirements for the years of the current cycle during which you taught before you were retired, click Standard Certificate Renewal for instruction of recording professional development activities on ECS (Educator Certification System). You can enter your professional development and submit your Statement of Assurance at anytime, but you MUST WAIT until after April 1 of your renewal year to process your renewal under "Register Certificates".

• If you have been exempt for your entire current cycle, you must wait until after April 1 of the renewal year to renew your certificate(s). All certificates renew together for one fee, which is $5.00 per year ($25.00).

You may renew your certificate online at ECS or by coming in to the Will County Regional Office of Education. You will need your social security number or your IEIN.
