Each Regional Office of Education is responsible for conducting two types of Bus Driver trainings. The 8-hour initial training is required for all new school bus drivers prior to getting a bus permit, and the annual 2-hour refresher workshop is required in the 12 month period prior to renewing their school bus permit.
Experienced drivers must take a 2-hour refresher workshop annually, and all new drivers must take an 8-hour training in school bus driver safety and first aid, as prescribed by the Illinois State Board of Education and administered by the ROE.
Please be aware that drivers will be added to the next available training if their enrollment date does not have a minimum of 10 participants.

Attention! Please keep in mind:
- You must sign up for a class ahead of time.
- Due to space limitations, walk-ins may not be allowed to participate in class.
- No Children or Visitors are allowed in Bus Classes.
- Please be prompt. Anyone more than 5 minutes late will not be admitted to the class.
- The fee for both the initial and refresher classes is $10.00 per driver. Payment must be made as a cashier's check or money order within 30 days of attending the class to the Will County Regional Office of Education.
- Please bring a pen or pencil.
- Please bring food or beverages based on the time that you will be attending the class.
- The Refresher Class is a 2-hour session. The Initial Class is an 8-hour session. See available schedule for more details.
