Fingerprinting / Criminal Background Checks

live scan logoEffective August 12, 2004 school districts are required to perform a fingerprint-based criminal history records check for all certified and non-certified applicants for employment. Any individual that applies for employment with a school district after August 12, 2004 must undergo a national fingerprint history check before the individual begins employment with the district. The criminal history check must be initiated prior to employment, but the individual may he hired, and begin employment pending the outcome of the background check.

The Will County Regional Office of Education (ROE) is an approved "Live Scan Agency".

FINGERPRINTING IS DONE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

Depending on the time of year, we sometimes have a two or three week backlog of scheduled appointments. Fingerprints are electronically submitted to the Illinois State Police and the F.B.I.

Our current fee for fingerprint services is $45.00 which includes submission to both the Illinois State Police and the F.B.I. If a school district is hiring you and sending you in for a background check, they will provide you with a "Fingerprint Authorization" form. Please complete the authorization form and bring for your scheduled appointment. The ROE will bill the school district for fingerprint services. Appointments for school district fingerprints may be scheduled any day of the week.
